Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti University celebrated its 16th Convocation on July 15, honouring academic excellence while emphasizing the importance of culture, values and lifelong learning. Held under the chairmanship of Dr. Sudhir Mahadev Bobde, Officer on Special Duty to Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor Anandiben Patel, the ceremony witnessed the conferment of 255 degrees and 48 medals on meritorious students.
In a message read out during the ceremony, Governor Anandiben Patel congratulated the graduates and stressed that India’s greatest strength lies in its ability to learn, adapt and continuously refine itself. She said that while knowledge makes a person successful, values make one truly great, urging students to carry cultural consciousness alongside their academic qualifications.
The convocation’s chief guest, eminent tabla maestro Padma Shri Pandit Kumar Bose, encouraged students to transform education into wisdom through dedication and continuous practice. He highlighted the importance of preserving India’s rich classical music tradition while embracing modern opportunities.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh praised the university for nurturing Indian classical music, dance and cultural heritage, noting that women outnumbered men among this year’s medal recipients, reflecting the success of women empowerment initiatives.

The ceremony also featured the launch of the university’s journal and the book Sangeet Srishti. In a community outreach initiative, 300 Anganwadi centres in Gonda district received educational kits, while 300 girls were administered HPV vaccines. Students from adopted villages presented performances on water conservation, adding a social dimension to the cultural celebration.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mandavi Singh presented the university’s annual report. All degree certificates were uploaded to the National Academic Depository, ensuring secure digital access for graduates.
